HMP Kirklevington, North Yorkshire

New houseblock comprising of 60 prison cells for Category D prisoners.

The module floors, ceilings and walls consist of cold-formed steel sections, which allow very accurate manufacturing tolerances, with hot-rolled steel columns. The entire structure is galvanised to minimise future maintenance. Built offsite by Britspace in conjunction with the Ministry of Justice for use in the programme to increase the national prisons capacity.  Modular  building is particulary well suited to these builds given the speed of construction, reduced time on site and the ability to test, in detail, the strength of the structure prior to the final installation on site.
