Callendar Court, Gateshead

Provides forty homes in extra care scheme for older people to be able to live their own life in their own home.  The scheme also offers a range of additional facilities for residents and people living locally.  They include a restaurant, hairdressers and a retail unit

Crawhall Road, Shieldfield

New private rental accommodation located ½ mile from Newcastle City Centre. The 5 storey high specification building will consist of 134 units, along with communal lounge, gym, sauna, cinema room, sky lounge, roof terrace and private dining room.

The proposed development is built over the historic Victoria Tunnel and the Hadrian’s Wall corridor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Both have significant historical and archaeological importance, and have placed severe constraint’s upon the structural design of the sub-structure solution.

Denefields, Allendale

Brand new housing development providing affordable homes for families in rural Allendale.  The development consists of 22 ECO friendly homes, ranging from bungalows to flats and family sized house,s with associated roads and drainage all built to Level 3 Code for Sustainable Homes. 

The scheme was developed to fit into the village, and also meets the needs of the families and young people needing housing in the area.


Dunblane Crescent, West Denton

Denton Regeneration redevelopment of Newcastle City housing site, including demolition and new build.  The proposal was for a mixture of flats and houses and bungalows. 

Development of the site required demolition and site clearance of existing flats.  The development is timber framed construction achieving high standards of insulation to comply with modern methods of construction and providing speed of construction.

Falstone, Hexham

Development consisting of six three bedroom semi-detached houses, the first affordable homes built in the village for 30 years. Built using materials sensitive to the location.

The scheme provided high standard, sustainable homes, including solar panels to generate hot water and wood burning stoves as a secondary form of heating, achieving the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 threshold.

Finsbury Avenue, Walker

Five detached bungalows designed for residents with Autism and other learning disabilities, all with wheelchair accessibility, and a further staff bungalow on-site.

The two bedroom bungalows were designed by JDDK Architects and built with external communal spaces to encourage social interaction between residents.

The bungalows won the accessibility category in the Lord Mayors Design Awards run by Newcastle City Council.



Green Lane, Holy Island

This scheme consisted of four three bedroom homes and was developed by the Community Land Trust to address the shortage of affordable housing on Holy Island .  

The development features a unique foundation system to protect sensitive archeology for future study, and the flexibility to allow for the changing needs of growing families.

Winner of the Homes and Communities Award Rural Housing Company.
