3e was appointed to provide detailed structural design for the first phase of four office blocks on Newcastle Great Park, with a combined area of 70,000 sq ft. A series of concept designs were evaluated and value engineered to arrive at the optimum structural solution in liaison with the development team.

The work is the first element of an 80ha business park to be constructed over the next 12 years, which will mark the ‘main entrance’ from the A1 to the northern urban expansion of Newcastle upon Tyne, known as Newcastle Great Park.  Contemporary in style, the new offices are predominantly glazed with a steel structure to complement the green environment, offering spectacular views of the breathtaking landscapes.

3e has also provided civils input into the overall site profiling, structural advice for the retail and affordable housing elements in the town centre and highway design for the new road junction in the East Village Area.
