Geo Environmental Remediation

Aldi Framework Agreement

3e is appointed within a framework agreement with Aldi Stores to provide engineering services for new or extended stores from Scotland down to Derbyshire.

Work on these projects includes structural design, civil engineering design and geotechnical attenuation analysis where required.

Aldi Store, Cockermouth

3e worked with Aldi Stores Ltd on the £800,000 extension of their store in Cockermouth. The project involved extensions of the store retail space and the existing car parking over the area of the adjacent former petrol filling station.   The site required a remediation exercise of hydrocarbon contaminated groundwater, threatening the nearby River Derwent within 20 metres of the site boundary.

Commissioners Quay, Blyth

Phase 1 Geo-environmental Assessment of land adjacent to Quay Road, Blyth.

The proposed development of mixed residential and office based buildings on a site of approximately two hectares which forms part of the broader regeneration of Blyth Estuary and town centre.

Harrogate International Conference Centre

The project included a desk study and site investigation of the car park site to construct a new 3,300 m2 exhibition hall.

The investigation was to determine shallow geological faults which underlie the site and had to be accurately located to allow the design of foundations to span the fault zone.  3e also supervised the construction of the foundation to ensure that they were not constructed over disturbed ground.

Neptune Yard, Wallsend

Neptune Yard 2a, Wallsend - Ground investigation on a 7 hectare former shipyard and development of a remediation strategy for a proposed industrial end use.

Dock Infill, Neptune Yard 2b, Wallsend - Phase 2 Geotechnical Assessment of land at Neptune Yard 2b to provide an overview of ground conditions surrounding the dry docks to determine general constraints with respect to future development

Riverside Housing Development, York

3e carried out a desk study and site investigation of former engineering works site next to the River Ouse in York for a 51 plot housing development for Barrett Homes.  The investigation included soils and groundwater contamination assessment.

This was followed by preparation of remediation strategy for the site and agreement with the local authority and NHBC.  3e then supervised the remediation of the site which included validation of the removal of underground fuel tanks and placement of imported clean capping in gardens to discharge the planning and NHBC conditions.
