Bridon Neptune Quay is a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility designed to produce the largest and complex ropes in the world. 3e were commissioned to design a 15.0m high building with plan size approximately 68m x 190m long to accommodate the new manufacturing facility for Bridon Ropes.

The building structure was designed to support a number of internal cranes with capacity from 1 tonne up to 150 tonne in the transverse bay. The main production bay included construction of three pits with varying depths between 2.9m and 6.0m at capstan pit. The construction work included an external rail track leading to a load out pad at River Tyne quay edge.

Project challenges included extensive quayside remediation, foundation work on a massive scale to suit the manufacturing machinery and steel design to accommodate the various crane capacities including allowance for dual lifts in Bay 1 and the transverse bay.  The pits in particular required close coordination with the manufacturing equipment design.
