Three Peaks Challenge

Kevin Skinner from the Newcastle office of 3e is looking at setting up his own charity in his son Patrick’s name. Patrick was diagnosed with leukemia in 2008 and beat the disease. However, while in remission, a reaction to one of his chemotherapy drugs caused his heart to fail. On Boxing Day he was placed on the organ donor register and received his new heart on 9 March 2009 at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle.

This years challenge took place on the weekend of Saturday 26th June 2010 and involved walking up Mount Snowdon in Wales, Scafell Pike in England and Ben Nevis in Scotland over the course of 24 hours. The hike involved 38 people, 8 drivers and 4 buses.

The online sponsorship so far stands at £4,300 in aid of RVI Children's Cancer Ward and Freeman Children's Heart Ward which were the two hospitals we raised nearly £20,000 for last year cycling the Coast to Coast route. Kevin has also added the charity MND (Motor Neurons Disease) Research to benefit from money raised as a 26 year old close friend of his has just been diagnosed with the disease.

Kevin said “the aim is to set a series of increasingly difficult challenges over the years in the hope to raise as much money for these good causes as we possibly can”.
